Egypt
In ancient times, Egyptians depended heavily on the Nile River for their survival. Most Egyptians settled in the fertile strip of land beside the river. During this time, pharaohs ruled Egypt as both political and religious leaders. Egypt was a stable society in which everyone had a place. Egypt and nearby Nubia interacted through trade and conquest. They borrowed ideas and skills from each other's cultures.
